Uitbreiding

Ik zou graag het artikel willen verbeteren, door de volgende zaken toe te voegen:

• Verbetering van de algemene informatie van het onderwerp media-activisme.
• Een kopje met historische context, dus bijvoorbeeld eerdere vormen van media-activisme (zoals radio-activisme).
• Een kopje met Social Media-activisme, aan de hand van casussen (zoals bijvoorbeeld microblogging in China en Twittergebruik tijdens de Arabische Lente).
• Een kopje met Data Activisme: een steeds belangrijker wordende vorm van media-activisme dat gebruik maakt van technologie en (big) data.

Feedback on purposed improvements

The article you have decided to work on is very sparse so I think a lot of your suggestions would make great improvements. I read a translated version of the article so the article’s definition of media activism might be clearer in Dutch but I though it was a confusing definition, so you might need to address this. Based upon the English version of the article I understand media activism very very simply to mean social activism which is primarily media based.

Otherwise I each of your improvements seem worthy, starting the article off by tracing the history of media activism is a good idea, and the examples China and the Arab Spring) you have chosen to illustrate media activism are more well-known than the current examples offered by the article. As Wikipedia is for everyone, I think your examples are much better. Additionally, censorship and especially slacktivism are nice recent trends to add to the article concerning social media. Be careful not to focus too much on censorship as it could deviate too much from the media activism concept.

By data activism do you mean hacktivism? If so, does it really link to media activism? WikiNicholasUvA (overleg) 8 mei 2020 20:33 (CEST)

I think in general the new sections you propose are good additions! Especially the last section you suggest, on the downsides of media activism, sounds very interesting and relevant. I am not sure how much historical context there will be and how important radio activism is, but I would consider making the first section similar to the first section of the English article “Forms of media activism” instead of only about the history of media activism. I actually think the English article on media activism lends itself well for a rough translation, so you could use some parts that are well-researched and referenced for your article in Dutch. Even though you might not want to translate all of it, there is a good training module on how to translate Wiki articles (https://outreachdashboard.wmflabs.org/training/editing-wikipedia/translating-articles) and maybe that will help you. What also may be a good idea is to mention how media activism is linked to social and political movements, since a lot of the case studies of media activism mentioned in the English article are also movements themselves. --BlueSofa (overleg) 12 mei 2020 16:53 (CEST)

Je toevoegingen zien er goed uit en ik denk dat het artikel een compleet overzicht geeft wanneer je dit hebt uitgewerkt. Om te reageren op de comment hiervoor: ik denk dat historische context wel waardevol kan zijn mits er genoeg informatie over te vinden is. Helemaal omdat de lezer dit op deze manier goed kan vergelijken met de huidige vormen van media activisme (zoals bijv. via sociale media). Maar dat moet uiteraard wel na een betere lead section komen met een duidelijke beknopte definitie van het concept, maar dat was je ook al van plan zie ik! @PokingNicolas heel goede voorstellen. Deze pagina is maar een grimmige ruïne momenteel... Ik maakte ook een redlinkje aan voor hashtag-activisme. Die zou hier ook fijn geïntegreerd kunnen worden. Beiden hebben goede artikels op en.WP. Zou media-activisme dan een synoniem zijn voor internet-activisme? Laura sf (overleg) 11 aug 2020 13:35 (CEST)
