I don't know enough Dutch, so here my question in English: When I was a child (circa 35 jaren geleden) my parents went with us on vacation to NL, and the greatest attraction on the playgrounds there, which were unbelievable compared to the uninspired German ones, were 1-man ferris wheels where your seat was suspended inside a ring. These were operated by the person sitting in them by pushing their feet against the ring, like in a hamster wheel. I haven't seen these things recently so I assume they have fallen prey to overzealous EU safety regulations, but they form a very bright spot in my childhood memory. So if anybody could point me to Web sources about this construction I would be most grateful, if only to complete the German Riesenrad entry on the principle of Ferris wheels. Turks rad?

In een radioreportage hoorde ik de term "Turks rad" gebruiken. De herkomst is me niet duidelijk. Op het internet vind ik niets onder die zoekterm. "Turkish big wheel"levert alleen links op naar puzzelwoordensites. Daar wordt als synoniem met vier letters voor "Turkish big wheel" Agha gegeven. ???
